Messages you may see

Grouped by where they appear. Most of these are Trackapt declining to guess rather than something being broken.

Access and visibility

What you seeWhat it means
A whole sidebar section is missingThe module is not switched on for the account.
A menu entry is there but the screen is read-onlyYour clearance level.
Some items are missing from a screen colleagues see fullyYour tracker group whitelist.
Your report totals are lower than a colleague'sSame cause. You are totalling a different slice, and neither of you is wrong.
A module screen was there yesterday and is goneA module was switched off, or your whitelist changed.
A module was switched on and it is not in your sidebarReload the app — Restart, in the menu under your name, does it. The sidebar is built from your account's details when the app loads; only the account holder who applies a licence key sees the module at once. See When a newly switched-on module appears.
You cannot see a worker's hoursYou are not named as their supervisor. Clearance will not fix it.

Filling in a form

What you seeWhat it means
A dropdown is emptyWhatever it references does not exist yet, or has been deleted. Often a sequencing problem.
A section opens empty where you expected the item listIt is raised from another form and is waiting to be told which document it answers.
A field is read-onlyIt is a computed field, or a mirror field on a dynamic form.
The form refuses a second entryOne entry per item per period is on for that form.
A computed field stays blankA token names a field that does not exist, or a field it references was retired.
The builder says two alerts fire togetherTwo rules on one field overlap, so one figure sends two messages. See Alerts on a form.
The builder says an alert can never fireUsually = where == was meant — a single = is an assignment and throws.
An uploaded workbook lists names it could not matchA misspelling, or an item renamed since you downloaded it. Pick the right one from the list.
An uploaded workbook cannot find the key rowThe sheet's greyed machine-readable header was deleted. Download a fresh workbook.
A period workbook downloads zero sheetsA weekly form with no week start declared cannot be laid out over a period. Set it in the builder.
A success message mentions values that were not writtenAnother entry already holds those slots for that date. Look for a duplicate on the same date.
Approval is refused on an entry that looks completeSomebody has an unpublished correction buffered on it.
You cannot edit a form you expected toAuthorship is by being named on the form, not by clearance.
A save is refused for a signature fieldThe form carries a signature field but names no signer or signing level.

Standings and figures

What you seeWhat it means
Unknown rather than OK on a serviceA meter interval on an asset with no reading. Not the same as OK.
A fill listed as not measurableNo meter, no full-to-full pair, a meter that went backwards, or no distance. See Fleet.
A balance alert never firesThe item has no threshold value set. A threshold that resolves to nothing reads as cannot say, not zero.
A form alert never arrivesWork through If an alert never arrives — the commonest causes are a draft entry and a recipient who cannot see the item.
A dial reads No target, and is neither green nor redIt is a range-based figure that adds up, and it has no plan for the period on screen. The dial shows the figure alone. Only a plan by period on its parameter gives the dial a target, and no screen sets one on a computed figure, so the dial keeps reading No target. If it is a percentage or a rate, untick Accumulates and the dial is measured against the plan set on it. A target typed on Period Reports judges that row on that screen only, and leaves the dial as it is. See Range-based figures.
A parameter is missing from SuperviseIts goal is Reading, or it is range-based. Supervise plots figures interval by interval against a plan: a reading has no plan, and a range-based figure has no intervals. See Supervise.
A cross-group computed figure is blankYou are not on every group feeding it, so it is withheld rather than half-computed.
A group appears under a department its settings do not nameIt is filed from the department's side. The lens matches either side. See Departments.
A figure that will not stop getting worseAn open stoppage, counted as downtime up to this moment.
A total moved after you parked a groupThat is parking working. You may have wanted hiding.
A period summary disagrees with the dashboardThey read different things. Both can be right.

Retail

What you seeWhat it means
Nothing in this shop carries 5012345678900That barcode is not on any product, or the product was never made sellable.
<Item> has been delisted and cannot be soldAvailable to sell is unticked. It can still be refunded and received.
This shop has no selling location yetNobody has created a location.
Another product in this shop already carries that barcodeTwo products cannot share one. Search the catalogue for it.
Still needs a cost / Still needs a batchNamed lines on the delivery are incomplete. The warning names the items.
Pick two different placesA transfer's From and To are the same.
N sales not yet sentThe network dropped. They send themselves; do not clear browser data.
never counted on a productIts stock figure has never been anchored by a physical count.
not costed on a productNo delivery of it has ever been booked in.
A stock figure has gone negativeThe till sold stock the ledger did not have. Go and count that product.

Weighbridge

What you seeWhat it means
A ticket was refused as zeroThe two weighings were equal. Re-weigh — a load of nothing is a mis-weighing.
Net looks right but payable looks lowA deduction is applied, itemised in Deductions on Tickets between the two figures, with the reason given.
Close ticket stays greyed at weigh-outA deduction is missing what it is for, its amount or its reason, or the deductions come to more than the net. See Applying deductions.
This ticket was abandoned, and its note says what happened…An abandoned ticket cannot be cancelled: its reason is the record of what became of the load.
This ticket changed a moment ago…Somebody else closed, cancelled or abandoned the same ticket at the same time. Refresh and see where it stands — nothing you entered was written.
No Abandon or Cancel ticket on the bayBoth are for level 3 and above. See Clearing a ticket that will never weigh out.
A gap in the ticket numbersSequences are per bridge. Check the other bridge's book.

Mining: drill and blast

What you seeWhat it means
There is nothing here to drillThe floor RL is at or above the surveyed ground across the block: that bench has already been taken, or a digit slipped.
The bench above this one has not been taken yetThe crest RL is below all of the ground, so the holes would collar underneath standing rock. Blast the bench above first, or raise the crest.
…more than one bench. Take the bench above it firstThe floor is further below the ground than one bench. A shot takes one level down to the next.
The crest RL … must be above the floor RL …A bench is drilled from its crest down to its floor. This one is refused on save as well.
Nothing here stands at RL …The floor matches no level the survey holds — usually a mistyped level. The bench the ground really holds is offered beside the message.
… of this boundary already stands at or below RL …Part of the block is dug out already, so those holes design to nothing. Often deliberate where a boundary spans two benches.
… of this boundary stands above the crest …Rock above the crest belongs to the bench above and is left where it is — usually from taking the lower of two benches a boundary spans.
No levels offered under The blockThe pit has no surveyed surface set under Ground and rock, the survey does not reach the block, or the ground there is all slope with no level in it. Type the levels.
… holes drill into the oreThe holes reach the ore under the waste. Give a stand-off and they stop above it. See Waste over ore.

Widgets and dashboards

What you seeWhat it means
A widget says the form has been deletedSomebody deleted the template it pointed at. Remove the widget or point it elsewhere.
Two people's dashboards differ with the same accessWidget configuration is per device.
A refresh control spinningA request you made is in flight. A figure arriving on its own does not spin it.

The pattern behind most of these

Trackapt consistently prefers saying "cannot say" to inventing a figure. A missing reading is not a zero, an unset threshold is not zero, a fill that cannot be measured is listed rather than dropped, and a service nobody has read is Unknown rather than OK.

When a screen tells you what it could not work out, that list is as important as the figures beside it.
