Setting up departments

Departments in the sidebar. A department groups tracker groups and form templates so a team sees its own work.

Read Departments first if you have not — in particular the part about a department not being an access control.

Creating one

From the Departments screen. A department takes a name, and optionally a head.

What goes into a department

Tracker groups are assigned from the group's own settings, alongside Access. A group can appear under more than one department.

Form templates belong to a department. This is why the Submissions menu nests entries under a department: reaching an entry needs both the department and the template.

The head of department

The department's appointed head, and its Level 6 members, may author the department's form templates — alongside the account holder and anybody named on the form itself. See Building a template.

Heads of department can edit forms but not delete them

Deleting a template needs the account holder, the form's author, or Admin clearance. See Deleting entries and templates.

A form with no department

A form belonging to no department and naming no signers or approvers is editable only by the account holder. If somebody has a form nobody can edit, this is usually why — give it a department, or name its signers.

Deleted submissions

Submissions → Deleted holds the trail of every deleted form entry. It sits under Submissions rather than under Departments, even though its address lives beneath the departments path.

Reaching it needs Level 6, and you must be either the account holder or hold Admin clearance. See Deleting entries and templates.
